OWL National Team
Peggy is an award-winning communicator, leader, storyteller, and strategist who has spent the past three decades sharing her talents with a global corporation, raising four children, and serving in numerous non-profits roles.
Prior to transitioning to a full-time focus on public service initiatives, Peggy climbed from an entry-level writer at Hallmark Cards, Inc. to take on roles such as Director of Humor, Director of Product Development, and Creative Director of Licensing. She has partnered with and provided creative content leadership for Disney, Warner Bros., DreamWorks, Lucasfilms, Peanuts Worldwide, LLC, Harley Davidson and others.
Along the way, Peggy raised four strong-willed children—all of whom successfully survived her accidental parenting and have become high functioning individuals—and took on numerous volunteer roles in the local community and beyond. She is a board member emeritus of the Kansas City Friends of Jung, President of the Shade Tree Fund of Greater KC, a speaker and trained advocate for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Children, a registered and active member of the Cherokee Nation, a founding member of the United Way Women’s Leadership Council, and a member of the People to People International Office Sponsorship program. She has worked with international organizations, including Invisible Children, in Uganda, on behalf of promoting healthcare for women and children.
Peggy moved to the non-profit world for the express purpose of using her tenacity, unique approach to life, and her abilities to effect change in areas where it most matters. She hopes her sense of humor, passion, and compassion will serve to enhance OWL’s impact on people, policy and broad-based coalitions. She has served as an OWL board member since 2013 and looks forward to building on her 30 years of experience to help others make meaningful connections and to give voice to unspoken needs.
